What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Some are strictly necessary for a site to work at all; others measure how a site is used or support marketing. Under EU rules, anything beyond strictly necessary cookies requires your consent before it is set.
Cookies this site uses
This site is deliberately light. It loads no external fonts, no advertising scripts and no social media trackers. In its default state it sets only the following:

The banner that appears on your first visit asks about optional cookies — analytics, and anything embedded from another site. We do not currently set any of these, so accepting changes nothing today. We ask anyway because consent has to be in place before such cookies are ever set, not afterwards. If we do add them, this page will list them here first.
Declining is not a second-class answer: nothing optional is set either way until you accept, and the site behaves identically. Your answer is remembered for six months, and you can change it at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the foot of any page.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings — every major browser offers this under privacy or site settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will not stop you reading this site, but it may prevent an administrator from staying signed in.
